MIELE - Dishwashers

Choosing a dishwasher starts with width. A standard 60 cm machine washes 12–14 place settings and suits most families, while a 45 cm model fits a narrow gap and still handles 9–10 settings. If there is no permanent water connection, a table top dishwasher runs from its own tank. Safety trays and inlet hoses are in accessories.

A good dishwasher is an indispensable household appliance

The dishwasher simplifies the cleaning of cooking and dining utensils. Dirty dishes can be quickly put out of sight and into the washer after cooking and eating. If necessary, the dishwasher can also handle just rinsing the dishes, and with quick wash programs, you can get clean dishes in no time.

What size dishwasher suits your home?

The selection of a dishwasher starts with the appropriate size. The standard models are 60 cm and 45 cm wide. A 60 cm wide dishwasher ensures that the maximum number of dishes can fit into the wash. The narrower 45 cm dishwasher can also wash a large number of dishes at once.

Are you looking for a more compact dishwasher for a small kitchen, such as a student accommodation? For this purpose, a practical countertop dishwasher is ideal. A mini dishwasher is indeed an excellent helper for small household dishwashing. The countertop dishwasher can also be easily placed in a cottage kitchen.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about dishwashers

What is the difference between a 45 cm and a 60 cm dishwasher?

Width decides capacity. A standard 60 cm machine washes 12–14 place settings in one load and suits most families. A slim 45 cm machine fits a smaller gap and typically washes 9–10 settings, which is enough for one- or two-person households and small kitchens.

What is the benefit of an integrated dishwasher?

An integrated dishwasher disappears into the kitchen because a cabinet panel matching the other doors is fitted to its front. On a fully integrated model the control panel is hidden along the top edge of the door. The result looks tidy and is often quieter, since the cabinet panel adds insulation.

What is a good noise level (dB) for a dishwasher?

In open-plan kitchens and next to living areas we recommend 44 dB or less. Very quiet machines run at about 39–42 dB, where you barely notice the cycle. In a separate kitchen 46–48 dB is usually enough and costs less.

Is a cutlery tray better than a cutlery basket?

A cutlery tray as a third top level frees space in the lower basket for larger items such as pots and plates. It also washes cutlery more hygienically because the pieces are not bunched together. A traditional basket is faster to fill and empty. The tray is becoming standard on higher-end machines.

What do Aquastop and flood protection mean?

Aquastop is a safety system that cuts the water supply if the hose or the machine fails, preventing water damage. In Finland insurers and housing companies normally also require a separate safety tray under the dishwasher so that any leak becomes visible in front of the machine instead of soaking into the floor.

Does a quick programme get the dishes clean?

On modern machines a quick programme of about 30–60 minutes cleans lightly soiled dishes well by using a higher temperature. For baked-on dirt and a full load, use the normal Auto or Eco programme, which relies on enzymes and a longer soak for the best wash and drying result.

Why does a dishwasher need salt?

Dishwasher salt softens the water and prevents limescale from building up in the machine and on the dishes. In most parts of Finland the water is naturally soft, so salt is not always needed. Check the water hardness in your area and use salt and rinse aid according to the manufacturer's instructions.

How do I keep a dishwasher clean?

Clean and rinse the filter in the bottom of the machine regularly. It is also worth using a machine cleaner or running an empty machine at the highest temperature about once a month to remove grease and limescale. Remember to wipe the door seals as well.
