What is the difference between a chest freezer and an upright freezer?

How can I save energy with cooling appliances?

Choose the best energy class you can. Place the appliance away from heat sources such as an oven or a radiator. Make sure air can circulate behind and beside it. Do not put warm food into the fridge or freezer, and check regularly that the door seals are intact and clean.

What is the No Frost function and do I need it?

No Frost is an automatic defrost function that prevents ice and frost from building up in the freezer by circulating air. You never have to defrost the freezer yourself, which saves effort and energy. It also keeps food in better condition, because a thick layer of ice does not form on it. We recommend it for convenience.

How often does a manually defrosted freezer need defrosting?

A freezer without automatic defrost should be defrosted at least once a year, or whenever the ice layer is more than half a centimetre thick. A thick layer of ice reduces the freezer's performance and increases its energy consumption significantly.
