SIEMENS - Upright Freezers

An upright freezer keeps frozen food in shelves and drawers where you can see it. It takes the same floor space as a fridge, so it fits a normal run of units, and capacities reach up to 280 litres. The quietest models run at 39 dB. Choose a model with automatic defrost if you do not want to defrost by hand; without it the freezer needs defrosting once the ice is more than half a centimetre thick.

Upright freezers are available from Bosch, Siemens, AEG, Helkama and Miele. In towns with a Euronics store we deliver the appliance, set it in place and take away the packaging and your old appliance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Upright Freezers

Purchasing a new freezer can raise many questions. We have gathered answers to the most common inquiries here to help you make the best choice.

What are the advantages of an upright freezer compared to a chest freezer?

The greatest advantage of an upright freezer is its organization. Thanks to its shelves and drawers, frozen items are easy to sort and quickly locate. A vertical unit also occupies less floor space, making it more suitable for smaller areas like kitchens.

What is the NoFrost function and why is it useful?

NoFrost is an automatic defrosting function that prevents ice and frost build-up in the freezer. This means you never have to defrost the freezer yourself, saving time and energy. It also keeps food higher quality and prevents them from sticking together.

What does quick freezing (FastFreeze) mean?

Quick freezing is a function that temporarily lowers the freezer's temperature to extremely cold levels. When you add a large amount of unfrozen food, quick freezing rapidly freezes them. Quick freezing preserves the food's cellular structure, vitamins, and taste better than slow freezing.

Can an upright freezer be placed in a cold garage?

This depends on the model. Not all freezers operate properly if the surrounding temperature drops too low. If you plan to place the freezer in a cool area, check the manual for its climate class and the lowest recommended operating temperature.

How much electricity does a freezer consume?

Electricity consumption depends on the size of the unit, energy class, and operating conditions. New freezers in a good energy class (e.g. C or D) use significantly less electricity than older appliances. The energy label indicates the estimated annual electricity consumption in kilowatt-hours (kWh/year).
