How does a washer dryer differ from a washing tower?

A washer dryer is a single appliance that handles both functions. A washing tower consists of two separate appliances (a washing machine and a tumble dryer) installed on top of each other. A washer dryer saves space, while a washing tower allows for a larger drying capacity and processing two loads simultaneously (one washing, one drying).

Why are the washing capacity and drying capacity different?

Laundry needs more space and airiness in the drum to dry than to wash. Therefore, the washing capacity of a washer dryer might be 9 kg, for example, but the drying capacity only 6 kg. If you want to wash and dry the laundry in a single program (a "NonStop" program), the machine must not be filled to its maximum washing capacity.

Does a washer dryer consume a lot of water for drying?

This depends on the technology. Traditional washer dryers use water to condense moisture out of the drying air, which increases water consumption. Newer washer dryers operating with heat pump technology do not use water for drying; they are significantly more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Does the drying program take a long time?

Where does the lint go in a washer dryer?

Unlike separate tumble dryers, most washer dryers do not have a lint filter in the door. The lint is usually flushed down the drain with the water during the condensation phase. It is important to regularly run the machine's own cleaning program (e.g., Tub Clean) to keep the internal parts of the machine free of lint.

Can I use the machine only for washing or only for drying?

Yes, you can. All washer dryers can be used like a normal washing machine without drying. Similarly, you can put wet, hand-washed, or rain-soaked clothes into the machine just for drying.

Does a washer dryer wrinkle clothes?

If the machine is filled too full during the drying phase, the clothes can get wrinkled. Modern machines, however, have steam functions and anti-crease functions that keep the drum moving after the program ends or use steam to open the fibers, which reduces the need for ironing.

Does a washer dryer require special installation?
