We Are at Your Service!
The pandemic and restrictions have particularly affected service companies. We are collaborating with the Finnish Work Union and the Key Flag mark to bring domestic services into the spotlight.
Our society is rapidly becoming service-oriented. As the share of services in the structural change of the economy* has increased to nearly 70 percent over recent decades, the significance of industry and construction as well as agriculture, forestry, and fishing has diminished.

When discussing support for Finnish work and employment, there is often an impression that it concerns only the purchase of consumer goods in stores. However, private services employ about 1.3 million Finns, so their importance to our employment and welfare is significant.
In some areas, services are easily visible, such as in barber services, at the checkout, in healthcare, and in restaurants. However, service is a much broader concept, as service inputs are used at every stage of the value chain: in design, manufacturing, sales, and distribution. Additionally, services exist in various forms integrated into the end products of industry. Sometimes, service and product are merged so seamlessly that it can be difficult to distinguish between them.
How to Recognize Finnish Service?
The Key Flag was first granted to services in 1995, and it is now used by over 2000 companies. Of these, nearly 90 percent have an annual turnover of less than five million. The range of industries is extensive. There are actors offering their services to consumers, businesses, and public procurements. Altogether, Key Flag services employ 97,000 people, and their turnover is 38 billion euros. This can be supplemented with the company’s own figures.
The criteria for Key Flag services include, among others, domestic ownership of the company and headquarters in Finland. According to our research, Finns trust that Key Flag companies pay taxes in Finland and operate openly and transparently.

Like all other Key Flag companies, we are also committed to the Finnish Work Union's principles of responsibility. Member companies of the Finnish Work Union create jobs in Finland, strengthening both economic and social well-being. They consider the responsibility of production and operations, and support employees' skills, well-being, and equality.
The significance of Finnish work culture and honesty in the service sector is substantial. According to the Finnish Work Union's research, international customers value Finnish companies for keeping their promises and being honest. Finnish services are often associated with attributes such as transparency, ethics, expertise, and understanding customer needs.
Overall, Finnish Key Flag services are a good choice for both consumers and businesses. So let's together bring Finnish services into the spotlight!
