CUSTOMER REGISTER PRIVACY POLICY

Euronics is committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of its Customers. The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform Customers about how we collect, use, and protect personal data as well as what rights and options Customers have to influence the processing of their personal data.

We collect and use your personal data strictly in accordance with the Finnish Data Protection Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation No. 2016/679 (the GDPR).

Euronics refers to the Cooperative Association Technical Companies and member companies belonging to the Cooperative Association (Euronics and Technical stores). The Service refers to services provided by Euronics, such as the euronics.fi online store, Euronics or Technical stores, Euronics' newsletter, or other services offered by Euronics. The Service may be produced either by Euronics itself or by Euronics’ current partners. The Customer refers to an individual using Euronics' Service.

Euronics complies with current Finnish legislation and EU data protection regulations in the processing of personal data. This privacy policy applies when a Customer uses Euronics Services. If a Customer does not accept the terms of this privacy policy, the Customer cannot use the Services, as providing the Service requires processing of personal data.

Purpose of personal data processing

The operation of the retail sector requires the processing of personal data. The customer register includes, for example, the necessary personal data processing for the online store’s customer account, order delivery, and invoicing. Euronics only processes personal data that are relevant and necessary for Euronics' business.

Purposes of personal data usage include:

- Management, maintenance, and development of customer relationships as well as customer communication;

- Production, provision, development, and quality assurance of Services;

- Business development;

- Sales and marketing, direct marketing, and targeting marketing;

- Market research, customer satisfaction surveys, and product reviews;

- Monitoring and analyzing the use of the Services to better understand customer needs and providing personalized Services;

- Customer profiling for targeting marketing and developing Services;

- Fulfillment of obligations based on laws and regulations from authorities;

- Ensuring data security of the Service, preventing and detecting misuse and fraud, and rectifying fault and disturbance situations; and

- Risk management and training purposes.

 

Additionally, the site collects anonymous data for web analytics using Google Analytics. Observed data from Service usage includes, for example, usage and browsing information, pages the user navigates between, device model, data collection channel (web browser, mobile browser, application), browser version, IP address, session time and duration, as well as screen resolution and operating system. Some of our stores use surveillance cameras and customer Wi-Fi in store premises. Questions about their privacy practices should be directed to the respective store.

Sources and updates of personal data

Primarily, we collect information from the Customer themselves, provided when the Customer registers as a user of the Service or uses the Service, such as when purchasing products from the euronics.fi online store, providing contact details in the cart, subscribing to our newsletter, or interacting with Euronics/Technical member stores or otherwise with us.

We may also receive information from other service providers within the limits permitted by law, such as from credit rating agencies or from registers maintained by authorities, such as the Population Register Centre.

Legal basis for personal data processing

Personal data are processed based on an agreement made between Euronics and the Customer, customer relationship between Euronics and the Customer, use of the Service, Euronics' legitimate interest, or consent given by the Customer or based on law.

In all of the aforementioned situations, we process personal and transfer data only to the extent required by the purpose of processing and always consider the privacy protection of our customers.

What personal data do we process?

We process the following categories of personal data and personal information:

- Basic information: name, contact information: postal address, email address, phone number, user IDs;

- Payment and payment method information;

- Consents and refusals regarding personal data processing;

- Customer transaction data: events and tasks related to managing customer relationships;

- Customer communication: messages and records where the customer is a party;

- Other information specifically defined in connection with consent requests based on consent;

- Service usage data: collected information may include purchase history, invoicing, credit and payment information, cart data, product warranty information, delivery information such as delivery method and delivery address as well as product reviews;

- Behavior data: Monitoring customer online behavior and Service usage using cookies and other similar technologies; collected information may include the channel used for web browsing, browser, device, device or cookie identifiers, IP address, session identifier, and session time and duration, log data.

To whom do we disclose your personal data? Do we transfer data outside the EU or EEA?

We do not sell or rent user personal data to third parties.

To current partners of Euronics, we disclose necessary personal data for the execution of delivery, sales, and marketing or to financial companies in connection with financial decision-making. Euronics may provide usage data of the Service to partners for targeted offers.

Euronics utilizes subcontractors in the provision of IT functions, who process personal data on behalf of Euronics. The use of personal data is limited to a specific contractual task. We have established data processing agreements that comply with the data protection regulations with these subcontractors. When using subcontractors, we take care that personal data are processed in compliance with the law and this privacy policy.

Euronics uses only trusted parties as partners and subcontractors. Partners or subcontractors processing personal data may be located outside the European Union or European Economic Area, in which case personal data are transferred outside the EU or EEA. We ensure appropriate safeguards related to the transfer and use EU-approved transfer methods, such as EU-approved standard contractual clauses in data processing agreements.

Personal data may also be disclosed to a third party to whom the Customer has given consent, for example, in connection with a specific campaign. Personal data may be disclosed in connection with legal proceedings or at the request of an authority based on applicable law or authority decision.

Personal data may be disclosed to a third party if Euronics is involved in business arrangements where the business containing personal data is part of the arrangements. Business arrangements include various business transactions and transfers as well as mergers and divisions of companies.

Retention and protection of personal data

Euronics retains Customer personal data for the duration of the customer relationship and for six years after the customer relationship has ended. The data is used, among other things, to handle potential claims and warranty issues. Compliance with obligations set forth in regulations concerning bookkeeping and consumer trade requires that some personal data be retained even if the customer agreement has ended. Euronics ensures reasonable measures protect that incompatible, outdated, or incorrect personal data is not retained and, on the other hand, that personal data necessary for the purposes of processing are protected from unauthorized processing, deletion, destruction, damage, and unauthorized access. In protecting and retaining personal data, we take into account the risks to privacy and business associated with the processing of personal data, as well as available technical possibilities and various threat factors.

The data security of Euronics' Service, online store, servers, and store information systems is of high quality and is protected against data breaches and denial of service attacks. Euronics takes care of the safety of its personnel, internal processes, and facilities to protect personal data. Euronics also seeks to implement all appropriate procedures to protect personal data and prevent and detect possible external access to personal data.

Personal data are processed by Euronics' own trained employees whose job duties require them to handle personal data. Employees are trained to handle personal data confidentially, securely, and in compliance with applicable legislation and given instructions.

For certain personal data processing, Euronics uses third parties (see above: To whom do we disclose personal data?). These partners are, in Euronics’ best estimation, reliable and their activities are monitored continuously. We have written personal data processing agreements with partners that take into account the requirements of data protection regulations and other legislation.

Data collected by Google Analytics is stored in the Google Analytics tool. Information from the Google Analytics service is collected anonymously and is not linked to individuals.

What options and rights does the Customer have?

A registered Customer of the Service has the opportunity to influence the use of their personal data and marketing directed at them. The Customer can make marketing-related choices on the Service’s own pages, such as whether they receive marketing or not. The Service is continuously developed, so functionalities may change, be added, or completely removed.

The Customer has the right to receive confirmation whether we process personal data about them and the right to access their personal data, including a copy of their personal data. The Customer has the right to review their personal data and request the rectification or deletion of their personal data. The Customer may demand the correction of inaccurate and erroneous personal data. If the processing of personal data is based on the Customer’s separate consent, the Customer can withdraw the consent.

If the Customer believes there are deficiencies in the processing of their personal data or suspects that Euronics has acted unlawfully, the Customer has the right to freely complain to Euronics or the respective member store about the issue. Euronics is committed to conducting business responsibly, so we want to rectify any deficiencies. The Customer also has the right to submit a complaint to a supervisory authority.

Can the Privacy Policy change?

Due to the development of the Service and changes as well as changes in legislation, the privacy policy may change. For the reasons mentioned above, we will update the privacy policy as necessary. The latest version of the privacy policy is always available in the Service, which we encourage you to check regularly.
