The refurbished computers sold by Euronics are originally premium computers intended for corporate use, designed for demanding applications. The lifecycle of these machines is generally about an average of eight years, but companies typically use them for only three to four years. This means that there is still at least four years of usability left.

– Our refurbished machines are always enterprise-grade devices, and an enterprise-grade refurbished computer is an excellent device, says Jyrki Mielo, Sales and Marketing Director at Kiertokone, the supplier of refurbished devices for Euronics.

Because it is a refurbished device, the high quality does not reflect in the price of the computer: where companies pay new for premium computers 1,000–2,000 euros, the price of a refurbished device hovers around 300–600 euros.

– These enterprise-grade refurbished computers are cheaper than new budget-level devices. A computer purchase in the 1,000–2,000 euro range is not relevant for an average consumer, but when refurbished, that enterprise-grade device becomes a reasonable purchase. Premium devices are designed to last, and at three to four years old, it is an excellent product for basic use, Mielo describes.

The quality of a refurbished enterprise-grade computer surpasses, according to Mielo, that of a new budget-level device.

– You don't get a good new one cheaply. Compared to a premium machine, the lifespan of an ordinary budget computer is shorter, the device is inherently inferior, and it will probably cost more than a refurbished premium computer, summarizes Jyrki Mielo.
 

Now is the time to purchase a new machine, and not wait until autumn

With Microsoft ending support for Windows 10, a significant demand spike is expected in the autumn. Euronics has long anticipated this in their stores, and customers have been recommended to upgrade their machines preferably before autumn.

– Our message to customers is that it is better to purchase the machine a little earlier; this way, you ensure availability. We don't want a repeat of the television boom, where surprisingly many people left it until the last minute. Especially if you want installation, you should act in time. Otherwise, the arrival of the laptop or desktop may be delayed, Nevalainen says.

The refurbished machines sold at Euronics are ready to use, and according to Jyrki Mielo, they are an excellent option now, as for many, acquiring a new machine can be somewhat surprising.

– All refurbished computers at Euronics come with Windows 11 pre-installed and can be updated to always the latest version. It will also be secure moving forward, assures Mielo from Kiertokone.

Continuing the use of an existing product rather than buying a new and cheap one is clearly a more responsible choice. This saves both carbon emissions and the extraction of minerals compared to a new device.
