As a new product, Laatuantenni introduces the CI+ card reader, suitable for use in any CI+-compatible set-top boxes and televisions.
The CI+ card reader must always be linked, even when viewing older SD pay channels. For this reason, an older program card may need to be replaced with a new one, even if HD services are not subscribed to. If a separate Cable Ready approved HD set-top box is used for the television, a CI+ card reader is not required.
In the future, nearly all new high-definition productions will be transmitted using card linking, which is supported by the CI+ card reader. The LA Digital CI+ card reader is currently available for Cable Ready HD approved cable television use and is compatible with T2 transmission networks.
